Overview

The CHIHAI MOTOR CHR-24GS-280-1CM DC gear motor combines a brushed motor, reduction gearing and a worm-driven reciprocating rotary mechanism. The shaft moves in and out while rotating; four rotary revolutions correspond to one reciprocating cycle. Choose the 3V or 6V winding and one of five actual accessory packages.

Features

  • Copper-wound brushed motor with reduction and reciprocating output.
  • Reversible DC drive with a 2.5 mm round output shaft and illustrated thrust cap.
  • Nominal 24 mm motor class and approximately 73 g motor mass.
  • Motor-only, power-supply, speed-controller and USB-lead packages.

Stall current ≤3.8 A ≤8.0 A

Speeds in the option names are no-load rotary references. The cycle-rate figures correspond to the source reciprocating reference and the four-revolutions-per-cycle mechanism. Actual speed varies with voltage and load. Rated values, no-load values and stall values are separate conditions. Maximum permitted thrust is a limit, not a guaranteed continuous force or payload. Do not operate stalled.

Dimensions and Motion

Item Reference
Model CHR-24GS-280-1CM
Nominal size 24 mm motor class; drawing shows 24.9 mm body reference
Overall length envelope 105-120 mm; drawing overall tolerance ±0.5 mm
Output shaft 2.5 mm diameter, round shaft with illustrated thrust cap
Rear motor diameter reference 23.9 mm
Net motor mass Approximately 73 g, excluding accessories and packing
Motion conversion Four rotary revolutions per reciprocating cycle

The 1CM suffix identifies the model. It does not establish a guaranteed 10 mm stroke: the listing also gives a 14-15 mm travel reference and a 105-120 mm overall length envelope. Check the original drawing and actual mechanism clearances before designing a fixed travel stop. This mechanism repeats its travel rather than providing unlimited continuous linear travel.

Package Selection

Package Included hardware

Power and Controller Compatibility

The accessory supply is 5V. Use suitable regulation for a 3V motor; do not treat 5V as its rated direct supply. A 6V winding powered at 5V may run below its stated rated-voltage performance. The illustrated PWM controller has a DC 2.2-12V supply reference, a 1.8-12V adjustment reference and an input-current requirement below 2A. It is not guaranteed to carry the 6V motor at its full 2.5A rated-current maximum or either motor at stall. Match the actual operating load and use suitable current limiting, protection and separately rated electronics where needed.

Connect a suitable low-voltage DC source to the controller power terminals and the motor to the motor-output terminals. Observe polarity: the terminal photograph marks red plus and black minus. Never connect the bare DC motor or controller directly to household AC mains. The USB-lead reference recommends a 5V source rated at least 2A and prohibits prolonged continuous running; that recommendation does not remove the need to regulate voltage for the 3V winding or to protect against stall current.

Applications and Use

Suitable for matched appliance mechanisms, educational demonstrations and small reciprocating test fixtures. Provide mechanical clearance for the moving shaft. Frequent stall, repeated abrupt starting and frequent forward/reverse switching can shorten service life. Verify load, voltage and temperature in the intended mechanism before extended use.

FAQ

Does 1CM guarantee a 10 mm stroke?

No. It is the source model suffix; use the dimensional envelope and check actual travel for your installation.

Does the controller package provide full stall-current capability?

No. Its below-2A input reference requires load matching; motor stall currents are higher. Do not use stall as a normal operating condition.

Are all accessories included with every selection?

No. Only the items named in the selected package are included. The two voltage choices share the same package photograph.
