Overview
The CHIHAI MOTOR CHF-GW12T-050ABHL DC gear motor combines a compact steel-plate worm gearbox with AB dual-channel Hall feedback. Choose connector orientation, the actual voltage/motor type, and reduction ratio as three independent selection fields.
Features
- Steel-plate gearbox frame and metal reduction gears with a compact 3 mm D-shaped output shaft.
- Reversible DC motor drive and 7 PPR Hall encoder feedback.
- Connector soldered toward or away from the output-shaft direction.
- Built-in encoder pull-up/shaping resistors and a ZH1.5-6PIN connection lead.
- Worm-drive resistance to back-driving; load holding depends on the actual ratio and mechanism and is not a separate safety brake.

Performance by Voltage and Motor Type
The complete family table below includes ratio references that may not be currently selectable for every motor type. Use only a combination offered by the options. Torque is not a supported hanging mass without considering lever length. Avoid prolonged stall and keep the gearbox below 3 kgf·cm load; stall references are not continuous operating values.

Hall Encoder and Wiring
The AB incremental magnetic Hall encoder uses a separate DC3.3 V or 5.0 V supply, with 100 kHz response-frequency reference and 7 PPR at the motor shaft. The magnetic ring has 14 poles (7 pole pairs). Encoder pulses at the gearbox output are the 7 PPR base multiplied by the exact gear ratio; counted edges depend on your quadrature decoding convention.
| Wire | Connection |
|---|---|
| Red | Motor supply M− |
| Black | Hall VCC,3.3/5.0 V |
| Yellow | C2, encoder B output |
| Green | C1, encoder A output |
| Blue | Hall GND |
| White | Motor supply M+ |
Use the motor voltage chosen in the options and power the encoder separately at its logic voltage. Never apply motor 6/12/24 V power to Hall VCC. Check labels and the actual connector before energizing the assembly. The encoder has onboard pull-up/shaping resistors for a suitable microcontroller input.
Construction and Installation
The steel-plate gearbox supports the gear shafts through three mounting/support posts. Compared with the illustrated copper-plate reference construction, the steel frame is intended to improve rigidity, impact resistance, alignment and wear resistance. Install with the correct M1.4 fasteners; do not deform the frame or force the output shaft. The copper winding includes an internal VDE capacitor for EMC suppression; no standalone product certification is claimed.
Disconnect power before fitting, removing or rewiring the motor. Match load and speed to the selected winding and ratio, avoid an obstructed output and inspect fasteners after initial testing.
Applications
Compact robot drives, small tracking or balancing vehicle mechanisms, smart appliances, pan/tilt drives and electric model mechanisms whose load, mounting space and feedback interface match the selected motor.
What's Included
One selected Hall-encoder worm gear motor and one six-wire connection lead. A controller, battery, power supply, mounting bracket and externally driven mechanism are not included. Multiple-angle photographs show one motor.
FAQ
What changes with connector orientation?
The encoder connector is soldered toward or away from the output-shaft direction. Choose the orientation that clears your mounting space and use its matching drawing.
Does a nominal 118:1 option use exactly 118:1?
No. The precise table gives 115.56:1 for that nominal selection. Use the precise ratio when converting the 7 PPR motor feedback into gearbox-output position.
