Overview

DarwinFPV FoldApe4 is a 4-inch folding long range FPV drone (MicroLongRange) designed for compact carry and travel filming. The foldable structure reduces volume by 70% after folding, with no need to remove the propellers for storage. Take-off weight is below 250 g. With a 3S 1150mAh battery it can fly for 20 minutes, and with a 3S 3000mAh 18650 battery it can fly for 30 minutes. With a DJI O3 Unit, flight distance can be up to 10 km, and maximum horizontal flight speed is 105 km/h.

The folding mechanism is reinforced with a dedicated arm structure and carbon fiber propeller clamps to improve rigidity and reduce vibration. The arms can be locked with two screws after unfolding to help prevent folding back during high-intensity maneuvers or after a crash.

Binding / Receiver Setup (ELRS)

The flight controller includes a built-in SPI ELRS receiver. Factory default firmware version is 3.x.

  • Use an ELRS protocol remote controller
  • Remote controller firmware 3.x is required for proper binding
  • Set the remote controller refresh rate to 250HZ
  • Connect to Betaflight and click Bind Receiver to enter binding mode (do not power on 3 times)
