Overview

MAD 14S 35Ah is a drone solid state lithium-ion battery (semi-solid battery) designed for high energy density, lightweight UAV power, and improved safety through cell material and pack-structure design.

Key Features

  • Battery label: 14S 35000mAh, 51.8V, 1813Wh (MAD Components; marked as “SEMI-SOLID BATTERY”).
  • Material innovation:
    • Add ionic conductor additives to the electrode sheet to improve ionic conductivity and high-rate performance under low electrolyte infiltration conditions.
    • Add lithium source additives to the pole film to improve the first effect of the material.
    • Use a self-developed double lithium salt electrolyte formula, considering high/low temperature, circulation and magnification of the battery cell, and other electrochemical properties.
  • Design optimization (three major design optimization):
    • Material ratio adjustment: adjust active materials (high nickel and lithium cobalt in the positive electrode; silicon in the negative electrode) to help ensure safety/life and improve energy density.
    • Optimal density: optimize compaction density and particle size to reduce volume expansion in the late cycle.
    • Custom auxiliary: optimize the weight of auxiliary materials (such as earpieces and aluminum-plastic film) to further enhance battery cell energy density according to customer requirements.
  • Safety improvement (three major improvements):
    • Surface flame-retardant coating: diaphragm surface coated with flame-retardant additive coating to improve safety performance.
    • Electrolyte flame retardant: add flame-retardant additives to the electrolyte to reduce the risk of spontaneous combustion.
    • Semi-solid system: use of a semi-solid system to help ensure cell safety.
  • Pack protection:
    • Lateral reinforcement: four 0.5mm thick FR4 fiberglass panels used on the outside of the pack; protection ability increased by 87%.
    • Bottom strengthening: 2mm thick EVA shock-absorbing foam used at the bottom to cushion impact when the UAV accelerates rapidly.
  • Appearance optimization:
    • Square leveling strengthened hard-pack form; square/flat appearance with accurate outline size control.
    • Cables routed in fixed positions: fixed-position design for the top cable outlet area to help control cable position and keep a smooth appearance.
