Troubleshooting (Indicator Lights and Audible Alerts)
You can identify ESC status by observing the LED indicator and emitted sounds.
Power-on Self-test
| Fault symptoms | Possible causes | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Power-on self-test fails, motor emits a “beep” every 1.5 seconds, accompanied by brief yellow indicator flashes. | Throttle PWM signal lost, or incorrect throttle PWM range recognized. | Ensure throttle signal wire connection is secure; check for wire damage. |
| Power-on self-test fails, motor emits a “beep” every 0.5 seconds, accompanied by brief yellow indicator flashes. | Power-on detects a high/leaky throttle and enters protection state. | Confirm the ESC passes self-test before increasing throttle. |
| Power-on self-test fails, motor silent, indicator flashes yellow 4 times every 1.5 seconds: “short-short-short-long”. | Power-on self-test fails; motor line loop may be disconnected / possible motor winding circuit open. | Open ESC cover; check whether the three motor wires are securely fastened. |
| Power-on self-test fails, motor silent, indicator flashes yellow 4 times every 1.5 seconds: “long-short-long-short”. | Power supply voltage is abnormal. | Check whether battery voltage is normal; check whether the power cable is properly connected. |
| Power-on self-test fails, motor silent, indicator flashes yellow 4 times every 1.5 seconds: other flashing methods. | ESC hardware is abnormal. | Record the LED flashing pattern for reference; replace the ESC and test again if needed. |
| Power-on self-test fails, motor silent, indicator flashes yellow 4 times every 1.5 seconds: “short-long-short-short”. | Motor line voltage is abnormal. | Check if motor wires are shorted to power bus wires; check if motor wires are damaged and shorted to the case. |
Fault During Operation
| Fault symptoms | Possible causes | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Motor does not spin after arming; spins only after throttle is increased. | Flight controller or remote controller output armed/idle throttle value is less than 1100 us. | Set throttle value greater than 1100 us; recommended 1160 us-1180 us. |
| Motor spins immediately after power-on and connecting to remote controller. | Remote controller throttle lock is set above 1100 us, or close to 1100 us. | Remote controller throttle lock setting must be less than or equal to 1050 us. |
| Power-on self-test normal, motor does not spin after arming; indicator: yellow light for 0.5 s - off for 0.5 s, motor silent. | Motor fails to start and stall protection occurs during startup. | Power cycle the ESC to restart; if problem recurs, check if the motor is damaged. |
| Power-on self-test normal, motor stops spinning during operation; indicator: yellow light for 0.5 s - off for 0.5 s, motor silent. | Motor is stalled/blocked and enters protection mode. | Check for foreign objects or mechanical binding; verify the motor rotates smoothly. |
| Power-on self-test normal, motor does not spin or stops mid-operation; indicator: yellow light for 1 s - off for 1 s, motor silent. | Short circuit or overcurrent protection occurs and the device enters protection state. | Open ESC cover; check for damaged motor wiring and loose wire/terminal connections. |
| During operation, the indicator light flashes red and green alternately. | PWM throttle signal is lost/missing. | Execute a safe landing; check PWM signal wire connection and cable condition. |
| During operation, the indicator light flashes yellow quickly every 0.2 seconds. | ESC detects the temperature is too high. | After landing and shutdown, check ESC case temperature; if overheated, check whether the 5 power terminal screws are loose. |
