Overview

Hobbywing Skywalker Series is a classic, high-compatibility power system lineup for RC fixed-wing aircraft and multirotors, built around two core categories: Skywalker brushless outrunner motors and Skywalker brushless ESCs (including UBEC/SBEC and OPTO HV options). This collection covers everything from lightweight everyday airframes to large fixed-wing builds that need higher voltage and current headroom.

What’s in Hobbywing Skywalker Series

1) Skywalker SL Brushless Motors (Fixed-Wing Focus)

A practical range of 3–4S fixed-wing outrunner motors with multiple KV options for different prop sizes and flight styles:

  • 2312 / 2316 / 2320 SL (multi-KV options, including a high-KV 2312 option)

  • 2814 / 2820 / 2826 SL (larger stator sizes for stronger thrust and bigger props)

These motors are typically chosen by airframe size, target thrust, and prop range, then refined by KV (lower KV for larger props and efficiency; higher KV for smaller props and higher RPM).

2) Skywalker V2 “Single ESC” with UBEC/SBEC (Aircraft ESC)

A broad current range for fixed-wing and helicopter setups, with features commonly needed in aircraft:

  • Mini/compact low-amp models: 15A / 20A / 30A (2–4S depending on model)

  • Mid-range: 40A / 50A / 60A / 80A / 100A (commonly 3–6S class)

  • Higher power with stronger BEC: 120A V2 UBEC (3–8S)

How to choose (quick rules)

Pick a motor

  • Start with stator size (2312 → 2826) based on airframe size/weight and desired prop.

  • Then pick KV:

    • Lower KV → larger prop, better efficiency/longer duration

    • Higher KV → smaller prop, higher RPM, more “punch” but can draw more current

Pick an ESC

  • Match voltage first (2–3S / 3–4S / 3–6S / 3–8S / 6–14S)

  • Then current: choose ESC continuous current with margin (commonly +20–30% over expected peak)

  • Choose BEC vs OPTO:

    • UBEC/SBEC ESC: simpler builds powering receiver/servos from ESC
