Three Propulsion Systems
Air65 II is offered in Champion, Racing, and Freestyle versions. Each version uses 0702 brushless motors (2026) with a 0.1mm stator core and version-specific magnetic/winding design. All versions use the Matrix 1S 5IN1 II flight controller with a 12A continuous (18A peak) ESC to support high surge currents.
Champion
Weight: 16.6g. Frame: 2.20g Air65 Champion Frame. Motors: Champion 0702 (36000KV) with dual-ball bearings. Props: GF 1207 3-Blade. Thrust-to-weight ratio: 6.3:1. The Champion version uses an unsoldered Matrix 5IN1 II FC.
Racing & Freestyle
Racing: Racing 0702 (30000KV) + GF 1207 3-Blade props. Freestyle: Freestyle 0702 (25000KV) + GF 1219S 3-Blade props.
Durability and Crash Test Data
The Matrix 1S 5IN1 II FC uses a 3-point mounting system designed to create cushioning space during impacts, reducing stress on core components and lowering the damage rate by up to 80%. The FC also uses a 1.0mm thickened PCB and an optimized layout to improve crash resilience. All versions use the Air II Canopy with upgraded materials and reinforcements; Racing and Freestyle use the Air65 II Frame, while Champion uses the Air65 Champion Frame.
Crash test method
Each unit was accelerated 5 meters in a straight line at level flight throttle and crashed horizontally into a wall. Image transmission, OSD, and receiver signals were monitored after each impact. The test concluded after 20 crashes or upon observed failure.
Crash test results
| Configuration tested | Units tested | FCs damaged after 20 crashes | Failure rate | Key observations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Air65 Racing (4 grommets) | 5 | 5 | 100% | All FCs failed. |
| Air65 Racing (3 grommets) | 5 | 1 | 20% | One OSD failure at crash 16; others operational. |
| Air65 II Racing (3 grommets) | 4 | 0 | 0% | No failures; no significant deformation. |
| Air75 II Racing (3 grommets) | 4 | 2 | 50% | Mixed results; two FCs remained operational. |
Engineering note: removing the front rubber grommet reduced stress transfer to the flight controller, lowering the risk of crash-related FC damage by approximately 80% in the Air65, with negligible impact on flight performance. Air65 II integrates a 3-point mounting system with the Matrix 1S 5IN1 II’s 1.0mm PCB and internal reinforcements for improved resilience.
