Whoop FPV

A Whoop is a small indoor FPV drone featuring 31-40mm propellers, protective propeller guards (also known as ducts), and 65mm or 75mm frame wheelbases. They usually operate on 1S or 2S LiPo batteries. These affordable, easy-to-control FPV drones are perfect for indoor flying and can also be flown outdoors in wind-protected areas. Their ducts ensure safety and reduce damage upon crashes.

A Whoop FPV (First Person View) drone, often known as a "Tiny Whoop," is a type of small, light, and generally safe drone that is commonly used for indoor FPV flying. The term "Whoop" originally came from a specific model, the Blade Inductrix, which was modified with a camera and a video transmitter and renamed as the "Tiny Whoop". Now, it represents a whole category of similar small drones.

Characteristics of Whoop FPV include:

  1. Size and Weight: Whoop drones are typically quite small (around 65-85mm motor-to-motor) and lightweight. This makes them safer for indoor flying.

  2. Propeller Guards: They come with ducted propellers or propeller guards, which not only protect the propellers from damage but also prevent the propellers from causing damage to people, animals, or objects.

  3. Camera and Video Transmitter (VTX): Despite their small size, Whoop drones carry an onboard camera and a VTX for live video feed.

  4. Stability and Ease of Use: Whoop drones are usually equipped with stability features that make them easy to fly, even for beginners.

To set up a Whoop FPV drone, you generally need:

  1. Whoop Drone: Choose a drone that fits your requirements, such as the size, camera quality, and flight time.

  2. Transmitter and Receiver: As with any FPV drone, these need to be compatible. The receiver is installed in the drone and the transmitter is the controller you use to pilot it.

  3. FPV Goggles: These are used to view the live feed from the drone's camera.

  4. Battery: Whoop drones typically use small, lightweight LiPo batteries.

  5. Battery Charger: Since the flight times are usually quite short, having multiple batteries and a good charger can help you fly for longer.

Recommended Whoop FPV drones (as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021) include:

  1. BetaFPV Beta65 Pro 2: This is a lightweight and agile whoop drone, popular for its performance and durability.

  2. NewBeeDrone AcroBee Lite: This drone is well-regarded for its stability, making it a good choice for beginners.

  3. Tiny Whoop Nano: Made by the original Tiny Whoop brand, this tiny drone is popular for indoor flying.

  4. EMAX Tinyhawk II: This drone is known for its excellent flight performance and is a popular choice among both beginners and experienced pilots.
