The RadioLink I2C Expansion Board and I2C Transfer Board are designed to extend the I2C and GPS serial ports of flight controllers such as Mini Pix, TURBO PiX, CrossFlight, CrossRace, and open-source PIXHAWK. These accessories support ultrasonic sensor modules (like the SU04) to enable comprehensive obstacle avoidance and precise altitude hold for multirotor drones.
Overview of Usage Scenarios
-
I2C Transfer Board: Included in the Mini Pix/TURBO PiX standard pack, this board extends one I2C port and one GPS serial port into 2 I2C ports + 1 GPS port, allowing dual I2C modules (e.g., SU04 sensor for downward altitude hold and LED module) while still maintaining GPS functionality.
-
I2C Expansion Board: Sold separately, this board extends up to six I2C ports from a single input, enabling simultaneous connection of up to 6 SU04 ultrasonic sensors for full 5-direction obstacle avoidance (forward, backward, left, right, upward) and altitude hold (downward).

| Altitude Holding | Supported (downward SU04) | Supported (downward SU04) |
| GPS Support | Requires additional Transfer Board if GPS needed | Built-in GPS port |
| Included in Pack | No (sold separately) | Yes (Mini Pix / TURBO PiX standard accessory) |
| Compatible Modules | SU04 Ultrasonic Sensors | SU04 Sensor + LED Module |
Application Scenarios
-
Simple Drone Setup:
Use the I2C Transfer Board to connect a downward SU04 ultrasonic sensor and an LED module while maintaining GPS connection. -
Advanced Drone Setup:
Use the I2C Expansion Board for full obstacle avoidance (forward, backward, left, right, upward) and altitude hold (downward). If GPS is required in this configuration, first connect the expansion board to the I2C Transfer Board, which provides a dedicated GPS port.
Notes
-
SU04 Sensor: Compatible ultrasonic sensor for altitude hold and obstacle avoidance.
-
Maximum SU04 Modules: Up to 6 sensors can be used with the Expansion Board for full directional awareness.
-
Extension Method: The expansion board must connect to the flight controller via the Transfer Board if GPS is also in use.
Details

I2C Expansion Board for CrossFlight, PIXHAWK, Mini Pix, TURBO PiX.

RadioLink Mini Pix V1.1 with I2C Expansion Board connects up to 6 ultrasonic sensors for obstacle avoidance in 5 directions and altitude hold downward, enhancing aircraft navigation safety.

Expansion of I2C Port: Connects ultrasonic sensors to flight controller. If GPS is used, a transfer board is needed. I2C port can be extended to six maximum.

I2C Transfer Board for CrossRace, CrossFlight, PIXHAWK, Mini Pix, TURBO PiX.

Extend Mavlink Port & I2C Port. Two middle ports are I2C, extending flight controller's (CrossRace/CrossFlight/PIXHAWK/Mini Pix/TURBO PiX) as two. One port for input, one for GPS module. I2C Transfer Board included; expansion supports up to six ports.

RadioLink I2C Expansion Board connects GPS, altitude holding, LED, and obstacle avoidance modules to flight controllers, extending I2C ports for enhanced drone functionality.

I2C Expansion Board offers 7 ports (1 input, 6 I2C) to extend I2C for six-direction obstacle avoidance. Works with flight controllers and ultrasonic sensors. Available as separate accessory.
