Overview
The T-Motor AT40A ESC (electronic speed controller) is an ESC for fixed-wing drones, supporting 2-4S LiPo battery packs and a 5V/3A BEC output to power a receiver and servos.
Key Features
- Fixed-wing ESC; supports 2-4S battery
- BEC output support (BEC 3A@5V; 5V/3A)
- High-speed throttle response with hardware filtering and synchronous continued current function
- Multiple protection functions described: abnormal voltage, ESC thermal, battery low-voltage, and throttle signal loss
- Multiple programmable parameters; supports LED programming card parameter setting (as stated)
- AT series ESC text (from images): dedicated fixed-wing core algorithm program; optimized software structure; original imported components; PCB layout
Programmable Parameters (Tones)
- Brake: Off ("beep" 1 short tone) / On ("beep-beep" 2 short tones)
- Battery type: LiPo ("beep" 1 short tone) / NiMH ("beep-beep" 2 short tones)
- Cutoff mode: Soft-Cut ("beep" 1 short tone) / Cut-Off ("beep-beep" 2 short tones)
- Cutoff threshold: Low ("beep" 1 short tone) / Medium ("beep-beep" 2 short tones) / High ("beep-beep-beep" 3 short tones)
- Start mode: Normal ("beep" 1 short tone) / Soft ("beep-beep" 2 short tones) / Super soft ("beep-beep-beep" 3 short tones)
- Timing: Low ("beep" 1 short tone) / Medium ("beep-beep" 2 short tones) / High ("beep-beep-beep" 3 short tones)
Low-Voltage Protection Details (from manual images)
- Low Voltage Protection Mode (Cut-Off Mode): limit power (Gradually reduce the output power) / Cut-Off (Immediately stop the output power)
- Low Voltage Protection Threshold: Low / Medium / High
- When battery type is set to LiPo, the battery cell number can be judged by ESC automatically
- Low / medium / high cutoff voltage for each LiPo cell: 2.85V / 3.15V / 3.3V
- Example shown: for a 3S LiPo, when “Medium” cutoff threshold is set, cut-off voltage = 3.15*3 = 9.45V
- When battery type is set to NiMH: low / medium / high cutoff voltages are 0% / 50% / 65% of the startup voltage; 0% means the low voltage cut-off function is disabled
- Example shown: for a 6 cells NiMH battery, fully charged voltage is 1.44*6 = 8.64V; when “Medium” cut-off threshold is set, the cut-off voltage = 8.64*50% = 4.32V
Startup Mode & Timing (from manual images)
- Startup Mode: Normal / Soft / Super-Soft
- Motor speed time from stationary to maximum: 300ms / 1.5s / 3s
- Timing: Low / Medium / High (3.75° / 15° / 26.25°)
Protection Functions (from manual images)
- Start up protection: if the motor fails to start up within 2 seconds when pushing the throttle, the ESC will cut-off the output power
- Temperature protection: when the temperature of the ESC is over about 110 Celsius degrees, the ESC will reduce the output power
- Throttle signal loss protection: output power reduces if throttle signal is lost for 1 second; further loss for 2 seconds will cause output to be cut-off completely
- Overload protection: when the load suddenly becomes very large, the power will be cut off or restarted automatically
