Overview

The WitMotion WT53R is a compact, eye-safe Laser Class 1 ranging sensor designed for reliable 4 cm–400 cm distance measurement. It supports two interfaces—WT53R-TTL (Serial TTL, ASCII output) and WT53R-485 (RS485, Modbus registers)—and streams data at 0.1–100 Hz (default 100 Hz). A built-in alarm output (low-level when triggered), waterproof threaded housing, and anti-seismic design make it easy to mount and integrate into industrial and robotics projects. • High speed: ~20 ms, 1.2 m with ±5 % when speed is prioritized.

Data protocol

• Normal (ASCII) mode: lines like State; 0, Range Valid and d: 73 mm (distance in millimeters).
  Status flags include No Update (255), Range Valid (0), Sigma Fail (1), Signal Fail (2), Min Range Fail (3), Phase Fail (4), Hardware Fail (5).

• Modbus mode (RS485): standard read/write registers, default device ID 0x50; examples and CRC fields are shown in the provided command/response tables.
