Overview
This ZED-F9P GNSS/RTK board is built around the u-blox module marked ZED-F9P-01B-01 (board marking: ZED-F9P-01B-00). It supports multiple host connections including USB Type-C (virtual COM/serial), UART (3.3V level), I2C (Qwiic bus), and SPI, making it suitable for integration with systems such as Pixhawk autopilots, Raspberry Pi, and microcontrollers (including ESP32) that need Serial/I2C/SPI control.
Key Features
- USB interface (USB Type-C): Connects to u-center for configuration and quick viewing of NMEA sentences; enumerates as a serial COM port independent of the UART interface.
- Power options: Onboard 3.3V regulator regulates 5V USB to the 3.3V required by the module; external 5V can be applied, or a direct 3.3V feed can be provided.
- Low-noise 3.3V note: If 3.3V is supplied directly to the board, a clean supply with minimal noise is recommended (less than 50mV VPP ripple is ideal for precise positioning).
- Pixhawk-compatible J3 port: GH1.25-6P connector can connect to a Pixhawk autopilot and can also be used to power the board.
- Dual antenna interfaces: One SMA external connector and one U.FL (IPEX) socket; either can be used.
- Status LEDs: Power, PPS, RTK, and FENCE indications for operating state.

Ports, Pinout & Indicators
J3 port (GH1.25-6P, Pixhawk JST-GH)
- 1: 5V_IN
- 2: ZED-F9P UART1 receiving (3.3V level)
- 3: ZED-F9P UART1 TX (3.3V level)
- 4,5: Not connected
- 6: Ground
LED behavior
- Power: When 3.3V is activated via USB or via the Qwiic bus, the power LED illuminates red.
- PPS: Once position lock is achieved, the PPS LED illuminates once per second with a yellow light.
- RTK: The RTK LED blue light stays on after powering on. After successfully receiving RTCM data, it starts flashing. After getting the RTK fix, the LED turns off.
- FENCE: The FENCE LED can be configured to turn on/off for geofencing applications.
Header labels visible on the board
- Left side: GND, 3V3, SDA, SCL, FENCE, RTK, PPS, RST, SAFE, INT
- Right side: GND, 5V, 3V3, TX2, RX2, CS, RXMOSI, TXMISO, SCK
Applications
- GNSS/RTK positioning integration for Pixhawk-based platforms via JST-GH (J3)
- USB Type-C setup and NMEA viewing with u-center
- Embedded integration using UART (3.3V), I2C/Qwiic, or SPI with SBCs and microcontrollers (including ESP32)

Details

The ZED-F9P-01B-00 RTK GNSS board provides a USB-C interface, clearly labeled pin headers, and a U.FL antenna connection for straightforward integration.

The USB-C interface connects the ZED-F9P to u-center or a Raspberry Pi and includes onboard 5V-to-3.3V regulation for the module.

The J3 JST-GH 6-pin connector pinout and four status LEDs make wiring to a Pixhawk-style autopilot and basic troubleshooting straightforward.

The ZED-F9P board supports both SMA and U.FL (IPEX) antenna connections and includes a configurable FENCE LED for geofencing status.
