Overview
The CHIHAI MOTOR CHT-936-10A is a manual brushed DC PWM speed controller with a rotary speed adjustment and a three-position forward/off/reverse switch. It suits compatible two-wire brushed DC motors and geared DC motors in bench projects and small mechanisms. The controller is housed in an aluminum alloy enclosure with mounting tabs.
Features
- 9–36V DC input for use with a compatible DC supply and motor.
- 25kHz PWM control with an approximately 5–95% adjustable duty cycle.
- Rotary potentiometer for manual speed adjustment.
- CW / OFF / CCW switch with a center-off position.
- Color-coded supply and motor wires.
- 89 × 50 × 32.5mm enclosure with 104mm mounting-center spacing.

Current selection: the 10A suffix in the model name is not a continuous operating-current guarantee. Select loads using the 5A rated value and account for motor starting and stall current. Confirm the exact unit rating before using a higher-current load.
Voltage selection: use the 9–36V operating range above and stay within your motor's rated voltage. Reference enclosure labels may show a broader range; they do not extend this product's specified operating range.
Connections and Operation
| Wire | Connection |
|---|---|
| Red | DC supply positive (+) |
| Black | DC supply negative (−) |
| Blue and yellow | The two motor leads of a compatible reversible brushed DC motor |
- Disconnect power before wiring. Set the direction switch to its center OFF position.
- Connect red and black to the correct polarity of a suitable DC supply, and connect blue and yellow to the motor.
- Check that the supply voltage is suitable for both the motor and controller, then power on.
- Select a direction and adjust the rotary control to change speed.
- Return the switch to OFF and allow the motor to stop before reversing direction. If the observed direction is opposite to your intended direction, disconnect power before swapping the motor leads.
This controller switches motor power by PWM; it does not raise the supply voltage. It is for brushed DC motors and does not provide three-phase commutation for a brushless motor. Use DC only: never connect AC mains directly. Observe supply polarity, avoid overloading or stalling the motor, and allow ventilation around the enclosure.
Applications
Manual speed and direction control of compatible brushed DC motors in test benches, small drive mechanisms and motion projects. Choose motor drivers by supply voltage, running current, starting current and the requirements of the driven mechanism. Actual speed and torque depend on the motor, supply and load; a duty-cycle setting is not a guaranteed percentage of motor speed.
What's Included
- One CHT-936-10A PWM controller in an aluminum enclosure, with rotary speed control, forward/off/reverse switch and attached wiring.
Motor, DC power supply, mounting hardware and driven mechanism are not included.
FAQ
Can it control a brushless motor?
No. It is intended for compatible two-wire brushed DC motors. A brushless motor requires a suitable brushless driver.
Does the rotary control switch the output completely off?
The listed duty-cycle range is approximately 5–95%. Use the center OFF position of the direction switch to stop the motor.
Can I select a motor just because its running current is below 5A?
Also check starting and stall current, the required supply voltage and the working load. Do not use the 10A model suffix as a continuous-current rating.
