Overview
The Yahboom horizontal (flat) ultrasonic sensor distance module uses a compact flat PCB design for short-distance ranging on robot and smart car projects. It provides a 4-pin interface (VCC, GND, ECHO, TRIG) and operates from a DC5V supply. The flat shape is designed for easy installation on a 9G servo, allowing left/right/front scanning by rotating the servo. Mounting holes are provided for integration with other modules.
Key Features
- Flat design for easy connection to a servo PTZ (tighten screws directly; no additional adapter structure required).
- Anti-reverse socket and high-quality PCB printing process.
- Supports XH2.54 cable connection and DuPont cable connection (F-F / M-F).
- Echo output is a TTL level signal proportional to range.
- Reference materials, driver source code, and graphical programming tools are provided.

Interface Notes
- Pin order (as labeled): VCC, TRIG (Control end), Echo (Receiving end), GND.
- Note: The module should be plugged on the circuit board before powering on to avoid high-level malfunctions. If it happens, power on again to solve it.
Working Principle (Ranging)
- Use IO to trigger ranging and give a high-level signal of at least 10us.
- The module automatically sends 8 square waves of 40khz and detects whether there is a signal return.
- If a return is detected, a high level is output through the IO. The duration of the high level is the time from the ultrasonic wave to its return.
- Test distance = (high level time * sound speed (340M/S)) / 2.
- Timing diagram notes: CH1 = 10 microsecond high-level transmit signal; CH2 = received return signal.
- The echo level output is proportional to the detection distance.
Applications
- Short-distance measurement for robots and smart cars (obstacle avoidance / distance sensing).
- Servo-based scanning (front/left/right) by forming a rotatable ultrasonic PTZ.
- Educational projects for micro:bit and Arduino teaching.
- Can be used together with RGB light modules (ranging + searchlight).
- Directional installation on robot car using M3 copper pillars.

Details

The flat horizontal PCB layout keeps the ultrasonic module compact and easy to mount on robot and smart car builds.

Pairing the module with a 9G servo makes it simple to sweep the sensor for front, left, and right distance checks.

Distance is calculated from the ECHO high-level duration after a 10 µs TRIG pulse initiates ultrasonic ranging.

Flexible mounting options support servo scanning, direct chassis installation, and add-on modules for project builds.

Choose XH2.54 or DuPont wiring to match common development boards and robot car kits.

The 4-pin header uses VCC, GND, TRIG, and ECHO for quick hookup to Arduino, micro:bit, and similar controllers.

A low-profile form factor helps the sensor fit neatly on both wheeled and tracked robot chassis designs.

Dimensions and main operating parameters are provided to help plan mounting holes and sensor placement.

Project files and reference materials support fast setup across popular education and maker platforms.

Optional example routines and documents are included for users developing with MSPM0 controllers.
