Overview
The HobbyWing FlyFun 160A HV OPTO V5 is an electronic speed controller (ESC) for RC aircraft, rated for 6-14S LiPo power systems. It is specified at 160A continuous current and 200A peak current (10 sec), and it does not include an integrated BEC.
Key Features
- DEO Technology / Active Freewheeling: Driving Efficiency Optimization (DEO) is stated to provide: faster and smoother throttle response with improved stability and flexibility during flight; higher driving efficiency for longer flight time; and lower ESC temperature for more reliable operation.
- 32-bit MCU & low-impedance PCB design: Marketing text highlights a high-performance 32-bit microprocessor and an extremely low-impedance PCB (printed circuit board) for current endurance and reliability.
- Multiple protections: Start-up protection, ESC thermal protection, over-current protection, over-load protection, capacitor thermal protection, throttle signal loss protection (Fail Safe), and abnormal input voltage protection.
- Multiple programmable parameters: Adjustable via transmitter or Hobbywing LED program box (also described as compatible with a HobbyWing programming card).
- Soft start-up modes: Stated to be applicable to regular propeller aircraft and EDF aircraft with different sizes.
- Reverse brake note from image text: The image text states the FLYFUN 130A/160A-HV-OPTO-V5 does not have Reverse Brake.
- BEC note: One gallery image describes a “High-power switch-mode BEC” with continuous/peak current of 8A/20A and voltage adjustable among 5.2V, 6.0V and 7.4V; however, this FlyFun 160A HV OPTO V5 ESC is specified as No BEC.
