Overview
The CHIHAI CHR-GM37-550 DC gear motor and wheel kit combines a 37 mm metal gearbox, a carbon-brush motor and mounting parts for mobile robot and small vehicle projects. Select the wheel package, reduction ratio and voltage/power version separately. Each kit provides one driven wheel assembly, not a complete vehicle.
Features
- Metal reduction gears and a 6 mm D-shaped output shaft.
- Four wheel packages: compact Mecanum, large climbing tire, blue studded tire or silver road-tread tire.
- Nine reduction ratios to balance wheel speed and load.
- Two-terminal brushed DC operation; changing polarity changes direction.
- Includes a mounting bracket and fasteners for mechanical integration.
Configuration Guide
Choose from 6V 10W, 12V 21W, 12V 40W and 24V 80W options. The 24V option uses an 85W performance-table reference; 80W and 85W do not represent two selectable variants. The 18.8:1 option corresponds to the nominal 18:1 column in the performance and length tables. Ratios are preserved as selectable options.
The 60 mm Mecanum wheel has handed rollers. A four-wheel omnidirectional chassis requires the appropriate left/right wheel arrangement and independent motor control; one kit does not provide four wheels or complete omnidirectional motion.

*Maximum permitted gearbox load is 35 kgf·cm (approximately 3.4 N·m) where marked. This is a mechanical load ceiling, not a separate guaranteed rated torque. Avoid shock loads and sustained stall.
Installation and Power
Use a DC supply and motor driver matched to the selected voltage and startup/load current. The high-power versions require a suitably rated supply; a 10 A supply recommendation does not mean the motor is current-limited to 10 A. Stall current can reach 26 A for the 24V version. Do not overvolt, overload or operate with the shaft blocked. Mount securely and check alignment before powering the motor. Motor noise varies with speed and load.
Applications
Use the kit to build a wheel drive for a mobile robot, line-following platform, experimental rover or educational vehicle. Select ratio, tire diameter and motor version for the required speed and torque. A balancing robot additionally needs a controller, sensors and a suitable control system.
What's Included
- One CHR-GM37-550 brushed DC gear motor in the selected electrical version and ratio.
- One selected wheel and one motor mounting bracket.
- Mounting screws, set screws and a hex key as appropriate to the package.
- Brass shaft coupler for tire packages; the Mecanum wheel uses its wheel hub.
Controller, motor driver, battery, chassis and encoder are not included. Photos illustrate the package type; motor labels may show a sample electrical version.
FAQ
Does this motor include a Hall encoder?
No. This is the two-terminal brushed motor wheel kit without an encoder.
Does one kit contain four Mecanum wheels?
No. A kit contains one motor, one wheel and mounting parts. A four-wheel chassis needs four appropriately handed wheel assemblies.
Can every version run at 24V?
No. Use the nominal voltage of the selected motor version. The 6V and 12V motors must not be treated as universal 6â24V motors.
