Overview

The CHIHAI MOTOR 460 and S460 brushed DC motor range offers short- and long-shaft configurations, several magnet constructions and specific pinion arrangements. Choose the numbered motor version to match the shaft length, rear cap and gear interface of your mechanism. The 7.4 V and 11.1 V figures describe operating test points of the same selected motor.

Features

  • Copper-wound armature, carbon brushes and ball-bearing construction.
  • Wet-pressed ferrite, bonded rare-earth and sintered NdFeB magnet versions.
  • Nylon rear caps or machined aluminum rear caps on the specified S460 versions.
  • Separate plain-shaft, standard-pinion, MIM black-pinion and powder-metal-pinion selections.
  • Direct motor output without an integrated reduction gearbox.

The long-shaft option supplied with a loose pinion and hex key is identified separately from the other option numbered 18. Its selected option photo does not provide a readable variant-specific speed table, so no universal speed is assigned to that option.

Mechanical Selection and Pinions

Short versions use an approximately 9 mm exposed shaft reference; the J9-style long versions show 35.5 mm. Overall lengths and gear interfaces vary. Confirm your motor mount, shaft diameter, pinion bore, gear profile and engagement before fitting. A fitted pinion does not make the motor a geared motor.

Versions 01, 02, 03, 12, 13, 14 and the black Gen 10 version are shown without a fitted pinion in their option diagrams. Versions explicitly showing a pinion are supplied in that pictured arrangement. The long-shaft loose-pinion option includes the pictured separate pinion and hex key. Comparison and component photographs illustrate alternatives, not a multi-motor bundle.

Construction and Performance Scope

The 460SA reference table specifies a 3.17 mm shaft, 7.4/11.1 V operation and 11.1 V maximum-power-point references of 105 W for yellow, 120 W for blue and 150 W for red rear-cap versions. The aluminum-cap S460 family reference lists 175 W maximum output and 25,000 rpm at 7.4 V / 37,000 rpm at 11.1 V. These family references do not replace the numbered selection table and are not continuous rated-power guarantees for every variant.

The illustrated rear-cap colors and construction vary between series. Select by the numbered option and its corresponding photo rather than color alone.

Applications

Replacement and development work for compatible Jinming J8/J9/Gen 10 motor-driven mechanisms, model drives and high-speed DC projects where the mount, pinion and electrical load match the chosen configuration. J8/J9 labels identify the listed fitment family; they are not a universal fit guarantee for every generation or gearbox.

Installation and Operation

Use a compatible DC supply and motor controller with adequate current capacity. Check polarity, mechanical alignment and gear mesh before applying power. Use suitable 2.8 mm terminal connectors where the selected motor has those tabs; avoid applying prolonged soldering heat to the brush assembly. Use appropriately rated wiring and connectors. Disconnect power before changing gears or reversing connections.

Avoid overload, stalled operation and immediate reversal at speed. Reducing supply voltage changes both speed and available torque. Keep fingers, wires and loose objects clear of the shaft and pinion. Gear ratio, spring load and the driven mechanism determine the actual cycle rate; motor rpm alone does not establish a finished system rate.

What's Included

One selected 460 or S460 motor, with the fitted or loose pinion arrangement shown for that exact selection. The long-shaft loose-pinion selection also includes the pictured hex key. No complete gearbox, gear set, controller, battery, power supply, wiring loom or driven device is included.

FAQ

Are 7.4 V and 11.1 V two different supplied motors?

No. They are reference supply points for the selected motor; each option supplies one motor.

Does every version include a pinion?

No. Plain-shaft versions require a separately matched pinion. Choose the exact pictured fitted-pinion or loose-pinion version when needed.

Can I select by rear-cap color alone?

No. Several series reuse cap colors with different shafts, windings and pinions. Match the numbered option and its photo.
