JGB37-520 Brushed DC Gear Motor with Hall Encoder
The JGB37-520 is a compact brushed DC gear motor with an A/B incremental Hall encoder, a metal reduction gearbox, a 6mm D-shaped output shaft and reversible rotation. Choose a 12V or 24V motor, the required no-load output speed, and a motor-only or accessory package for robotics, small mechanisms and electronics projects.
The selectable speeds are 7, 12, 22, 35, 45, 66, 107, 200, 319, 600 and 960 RPM. These options match the supplier's 6000RPM motor-before-reduction series. Output RPM is measured without load; speed decreases under load. A bracket shown in a photograph is included only when the selected Package names a bracket.
Construction and Speed Control
- Metal reduction gears in a multi-stage arrangement, copper winding, permanent-magnet motor and carbon brushes.
- PWM speed control is possible with a compatible external brushed-DC controller. A controller is included only in the specified packages.
- Swap only the red and white motor power leads to reverse rotation. Keep encoder and controller supply polarity correct; stop the motor before changing direction.
- The gear ratio determines the speed/torque trade-off. Reducing speed electrically does not provide the same torque increase as selecting a higher reduction ratio.

6000RPM Motor Series — Performance Reference
This series matches the selectable speed family. The tables also retain the supplier's non-selectable reference speeds (85, 28, 15 and 9.5 RPM) for completeness; they do not create additional purchase options. Values are supplier data, not independent test results. Torque is in kgf·cm, not kilograms of lifting capacity.

Hall Encoder Specifications and Wiring
The motor supply and encoder supply are separate circuits. Use 12V or 24V for the motor according to the option, and only 3.3–5V DC for the encoder. Never apply motor voltage to the encoder or signal wires.
| Encoder parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Type | A/B two-channel incremental magnetic Hall encoder |
| Base resolution | 11 pulses per motor revolution (11PPR) |
| Output shaft pulse reference | 11 × gear ratio before quadrature edge multiplication; actual counts depend on decoding method |
| Encoder supply | 3.3–5V DC |
| Output | A/B square wave, standard; source sine-wave custom version is not a selectable configuration here |
| Interface | PH2.0-6PIN with supplied cable |
| Signal circuitry | Built-in pull-up and conditioning resistors; verify logic-level compatibility with your controller |
| Response frequency | 100kHz, supplier specification |
| Magnetic ring | 22 poles / 11 pole pairs |
| Supplier encoder temperature | −40°C to 120°C; applies to encoder specification, not the complete motor |
| Wire colour | Connection |
|---|---|
| Red | Motor power +; swap only with white to reverse motor |
| White | Motor power −; swap only with red to reverse motor |
| Black | Encoder supply − / GND |
| Blue | Encoder supply +, 3.3–5V DC |
| Yellow | Encoder signal channel |
| Green | Encoder signal channel |
The source identifies yellow and green as the two signal lines without assigning their A/B order. Check channel phase in your application. Never reverse the blue/black encoder supply, and never connect power directly to either signal line.
Optional Mounting Bracket
The illustrated L-bracket is 1.5mm thick, approximately 40mm wide, with a 40mm base and 47mm upright. The motor mounting pattern is marked 31mm pitch diameter with six 3.2mm holes and 6.3mm recesses. The central opening is marked 2 × R6.5 with 14mm centre spacing. The base drawing shows four 3.5mm holes at 24 × 30mm spacing and an 8mm side offset; the upright includes a 20mm reference dimension. The bracket is supplied only with the applicable Package.
Wiring and Use
Use a DC motor supply matching the selected voltage and a separate regulated 3.3–5V encoder supply. If using a PWM motor controller, connect its motor output only to the red and white motor leads. Keep encoder power and signals separate from the motor power output. Stop before reversing direction and verify every connection before applying power.
Choose the motor by its rated-load torque rather than its stall torque. Do not overload, stall or operate close to stall: the motor or gears can be damaged. Loads above the rated condition reduce speed. Lowering electrical speed can also reduce available torque. Controller ratings, adapter mains-input rating, plug type and included cable/connector details are not fully specified in the supplied listing; verify these details for the selected accessories.
Torque and Unit Reference
For a static load, required torque in kgf·cm equals load in kgf multiplied by lever radius in cm. The supplier illustrates a 10kg load: 10kgf·cm at a 1cm radius, or 100kgf·cm at a 10cm radius. This is an explanatory example, not this motor's lifting rating. Allow for friction, acceleration and the mechanism's actual operating load.

Encoder Motor Overview
The JGB37-520 combines a brushed DC motor, metal reduction gearbox and Hall encoder. Choose the voltage, no-load speed and accessory package above.

Torque and Speed Control
Gear reduction determines the speed and torque trade-off. PWM control requires a suitable external controller. Reverse only the motor power leads, keeping encoder power polarity unchanged.

Internal Construction
The source illustrates metal gears, copper windings, permanent magnets, carbon brushes and the rear Hall encoder. Internal parts may vary between production versions.

Mechanical Dimensions
Dimensions are in millimetres. Gearbox length depends on the reduction ratio. The drawing specifies 3.5mm mounting-hole depth, while the annotated photograph below specifies 4mm; verify screw engagement on the actual motor.

Optional Mounting Bracket
This bracket is included only when the selected Package names a bracket. Its mounting dimensions are shown below.

Motor and Encoder Dimensions
The encoder assembly adds an 11.75mm rear section. The supplied six-pin cable is approximately 144mm long. Overview ratings span multiple source series; refer to the selected series in the performance tables.

Encoder Wiring and Signals
Motor power uses the red and white wires. Encoder power uses blue (+3.3–5V) and black (GND); yellow and green carry the two encoder signals. The source does not assign A/B order to those two colours. Never apply 12V/24V motor voltage to encoder or signal connections.

Torque Selection Reference
These pulley examples explain torque and lever radius; they are not lifting-capacity ratings for this motor. Allow for friction, acceleration and actual load.

6V / 5000RPM Series — Reference Only
This additional source table is provided for reference. Neither this voltage nor this motor series is selectable in this listing.

12V / 6000RPM Series
This is the 12V speed family used by the selectable variants. The source also lists 85, 28, 15 and 9.5RPM reference speeds that are not available as purchase options. Stall torque is not a continuous operating rating.

24V / 6000RPM Series
This is the 24V speed family used by the selectable variants. All values are supplier reference data. Use the selected voltage and rated-load figures when designing the mechanism.

12V / 10000RPM Series — Reference Only
This higher-speed source series is not a selectable motor series here. Do not apply its ratings to the listed 6000RPM-series motor, even when output speeds overlap.
