Overview
The CHIHAI MOTOR push-button stepper motor driver controls a two-phase, four-wire motor through a two-digit display and four onboard buttons. Choose a standard or PLC-control version, with an open board or protective enclosure. All four configurations offer automatic reciprocation as named in their selections.
Features
- Local speed and direction buttons for straightforward motor testing and running.
- Automatic back-and-forth operation with an electronically remembered step count.
- Adjustable pause time and optional power-off parameter memory.
- PLC versions add PUL, DIR and EN external control signals.

Configuration Guide
| Selection | PLC input | Housing |
|---|---|---|
| PLC Control - Open Board | PUL/DIR/EN six-pin | Open board |
| PLC Control - Enclosed | PUL/DIR/EN six-pin | Enclosed |
| Standard - Open Board | No PLC-control port promised | Open board |
| Standard - Enclosed | No PLC-control port promised | Enclosed |
PCB artwork can show a wider5-18V marking; the product operating specification here remains5-12V. Different motors work at different speed settings, and not every setting will run every motor. Check motor phase current and compatibility before use; no unverified current rating or microstep setting is implied.
Wiring and External Control
| Connection | Marking / function | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Power | DC- / DC+ | Use5-12V DC with correct polarity |
| PLC control | PUL- / PUL+; DIR- / DIR+; EN- / EN+ | XH2.54-6PIN, PLC versions only |
| PUL | Speed frequency input | 0Hz-2kHz; signalDC5-36V |
| DIR | Direction input | Controls forward/reverse; signalDC5-36V |
| EN | Enable input | PUL and DIR act only when enable is valid; signalDC5-36V |
| Motor ports | A / A, B / B coil pairs | Use matching1.25mm4PIN, PH2.0-4PIN or XH2.54-4PIN; do not infer wire order from color |
The5-36V range applies to the PLC signal inputs, not to board power. Pair the motor windings correctly and use the matching port; the connection choices do not mean three independent motor channels.
Manual Operation
| Button | Operation |
|---|---|
| Speed+ | Increase speed while running. Hold with Speed- to enter reciprocating mode. |
| Speed- | Decrease speed while running. Hold with Speed+ to enter reciprocating mode. |
| Direction A | Start in direction A while stopped; change to A while running; set the current A-side boundary in reciprocating mode. |
| Direction B | Start in direction B while stopped; change to B while running; set the current B-side boundary in reciprocating mode. |
| Direction toggle | A direction-button press commands its direction; a further press pauses as described in the operation reference. |
Automatic Reciprocation
- Power on, then press Speed+ and Speed- together to enter automatic reciprocation.
- The initial motion uses a large default stroke of approximately65,500 steps. Keep clear of mechanical end stops and provide enough travel during setup.
- Before the first physical boundary, press the direction button to record the number of steps from the start to the current position.
- The controller then repeats back and forth using the remembered step count as the one-way stroke.
- Adjust speed during reciprocation as required.
- To change stroke, press the direction button again while moving toward one side; the stored one-way distance becomes the current distance from the start.
Repeated direction presses can shorten the remembered stroke. Step-count memory is not an external position sensor or a verified limit-switch function.
Pause Time and Memory
| Pause setting | Instruction |
|---|---|
| Enter setting | Hold Speed- while powering on; default pause1 second. |
| Range / display | 1-999 seconds. Above100 seconds, display shows hundreds and tens, with the tens decimal point lit. |
| Increase | At100 seconds and below, Speed+ adds1 second; above100, adds10 seconds, up to999. |
| Decrease | Above100 seconds, Speed- subtracts10 seconds; at100 and below, subtracts1 second, down to1. |
| Memory function | Instruction |
|---|---|
| Stored parameters | Direction, speed, reciprocating-mode flag and reciprocating step count. |
| Enable | Hold Speed+ during power-on. A brief display mark indicates memory is enabled. |
| Disable | Repeat holding Speed+ at power-on; memory is disabled and stored parameters reset. |
| Power-on indication | A brief mark appears each power-on while memory is enabled. |
| Save trigger | After button operation,20 seconds with no input automatically saves remembered parameters. |
| Next startup | The motor automatically runs with the remembered direction and speed after the next power-on. |
Keep the mechanism clear before power-up because an enabled memory configuration can restart motor motion automatically.
Applications
Use the controller for small stepper-motor test fixtures, simple speed adjustment and repeated-travel mechanisms. Choose the PLC model when an external controller must provide pulse, direction and enable signals.
What's Included
One selected driver board, with enclosure only when selected. PLC package photographs include one power-input lead and one PLC-control connection lead; the standard package shows its matching power-input lead. A motor, PLC, motor power supply and complete mechanism are not included.
FAQ
Can the standard model receive PLC pulse inputs?
Select a PLC Control configuration for the six-pin PUL/DIR/EN connection. The standard option does not promise that interface.
Can the board be powered from36V?
No. The listed board supply is5-12V;5-36V refers only to the PLC signal-input range.
Will all speed settings work with every motor?
No. Use the speed settings that run your selected motor reliably, with load and current limits checked.
