JGA25-370 Brushed DC Gear Motor with Hall Encoder
The JGA25-370 is a compact brushed DC gear motor with a metal reduction gearbox, a 4mm D-shaped output shaft and an incremental Hall encoder for speed feedback. Choose a 12V or 24V motor, the required no-load output speed, and a motor-only or accessory package for robotics, small mechanisms and electronics projects.
The selectable speeds are 12, 16, 27, 35, 58, 77, 128, 169, 282, 625 and 1364 RPM. These options match the supplier's 6000RPM motor-before-reduction series. Output RPM is measured without load; speed decreases under load. A bracket shown in a photograph is included only when the selected Package names a bracket.
Construction and Speed Control
- Metal reduction gears in a multi-stage arrangement, copper winding, permanent-magnet motor and carbon brushes.
- PWM speed control is possible with a compatible external brushed-DC controller. A controller is included only in the specified packages.
- Swap only the red and white motor leads to reverse rotation; keep encoder supply polarity correct. With a controller fitted, use its direction control and keep controller supply polarity correct.
- The gear ratio determines the speed/torque trade-off. Reducing speed electrically does not provide the same torque increase as selecting a higher reduction ratio.

Optional Mounting Bracket
The illustrated L-bracket is 3mm thick and 26.2mm wide, with a 33.5mm base and 33.5mm upright. Its motor face has two 3.5mm mounting holes with 6mm recesses, at 17mm spacing, and an 8mm centre opening positioned 13mm below the top. The base drawing shows four 3.5mm holes at 14 × 16mm spacing, an 8mm side reference, a 7mm centre offset and a 10mm centre opening. The bracket is supplied only with the applicable Package.
Hall Encoder and Wiring
The magnetic incremental encoder provides AB square-wave feedback: 11 pulses per motor revolution on each signal, with 22 magnetic poles (11 pairs). Each channel produces 11 × gear ratio pulses per output-shaft revolution. When counting complete pulses on one channel, output RPM = frequency in Hz × 60 ÷ (11 × gear ratio). Quadrature edge-counting requires the corresponding counting multiplier; this is incremental feedback, not an absolute position sensor.
| Wire / parameter | Connection / specification |
|---|---|
| Red | Motor positive |
| White | Motor negative; swap red and white only to reverse motor |
| Black | Encoder ground (GND) |
| Blue | Encoder positive supply: DC 3.3–5V |
| Green and yellow | Two encoder feedback signals, 11 pulses per motor revolution each; source does not identify their individual A/B color assignment |
| Encoder supply | DC 3.3V or 5.0V, separate from the 12V/24V motor supply |
| Signal / response | AB square wave; supplier response frequency 100kHz |
| Connector | PH2.0 connector and supplied encoder lead |
| Signal circuitry | Built-in pull-up/conditioning resistors, per supplier |
Use a DC motor supply matching the selected voltage. Never apply 12V/24V to the encoder supply or signal wires. Keep encoder polarity correct when reversing the motor. With a compatible controller, connect its motor output to the motor leads and follow the actual controller labels. Stop before reversing direction.
Choose the motor by its rated-load torque rather than its stall torque. Do not overload, stall or operate close to stall: the motor or gears can be damaged. Loads above the rated condition reduce speed. Lowering electrical speed can also reduce available torque. Controller ratings, adapter mains-input rating, plug type and included cable/connector details are not fully specified in the supplied listing; verify these details for the selected accessories.

Motor Dimensions
Dimensions are in millimetres. The motor drawing shows a 24 ±0.5mm diameter body, 31mm body length and 8.7mm rear encoder extension. Gearbox length L depends on reduction ratio.

Optional Mounting Bracket
The 3mm-thick bracket is included only when named in the selected Package. Check the 17mm motor mounting spacing and base hole pattern.

Motor Overview and Shaft Dimensions
The supplier overview lists 6V/24V, but this product offers only the 12V and 24V options shown in the selector. Motor weight is approximately 93–100g by ratio; dimensions are supplier reference values.

Encoder Wiring and Feedback
Connect the encoder to 3.3–5V only. Red and white are motor leads; blue is encoder positive and black is encoder ground. Green and yellow are feedback channels. Each provides 11 pulses per motor revolution, multiplied by gearbox ratio at the output shaft.
