Overview

CHIHAI CHP-6GP-L610 is a 6 mm diameter coreless DC motor with a plastic planetary gearbox, built for mechanisms where even a few grams of motor mass matter: micro camera gimbals, instrument drives, miniature appliances and small robotics. The rotor has no iron core, so it spins up and stops quickly and does not cog at low speed; the motor uses NdFeB magnets.

Four ratios from 1:5 to 1:699 are available on both the 1.5V and 3V windings, giving no-load speeds from 6400 rpm down to 23 rpm in the same Ø6 mm body.

Features

  • Coreless rotor. No iron core in the winding, which cuts inertia and cogging, so the motor starts, stops and changes speed quickly.
  • Plastic planetary gearbox. High transmission efficiency and low running noise, with the load shared across several planet gears.
  • NdFeB magnets. A compact neodymium magnet system.
  • Ø2 mm D-cut shaft. 3.6 mm long with a 1.5 mm flat, so small pinions and couplings grip without slipping.
  • Ø6 mm body. Fits inside pencil-thin mechanisms; the gearbox adds 5.8 to 11.75 mm depending on stage count.
  • Reversible. Swap the red and black leads to reverse rotation.

Configuration Guide

Voltage

Two windings are sold. The 3V version runs at roughly twice the speed of the 1.5V version at every ratio (6400 rpm against 3200 rpm at 1:5). Pick the winding that matches your supply rather than the speed: running the 1.5V winding at 3V over-speeds and heats it, and the 3V winding at 1.5V will not reach its rated torque.

Gear ratio and stage count

The ratio also sets the gearbox length, because each extra stage adds length: 1:5 is a single stage at 5.8 mm, 1:26 is two stages at 7.05 mm, 1:136 is three at 9.4 mm, and 1:699 is four at 11.75 mm. Check the space you have before choosing the slowest ratio.

Each option below states voltage, ratio and no-load speed, so the variant name alone tells you the speed you are buying.

Mechanical Dimensions

The gearbox is Ø6 mm; the motor body is 9.3 mm long; the gearbox adds 5.8 / 7.05 / 9.4 / 11.75 mm for one to four stages. The output shaft is Ø2 mm, 3.6 mm long, with a 1.5 mm D-flat over 2.5 mm. Leads are about 50 mm long, red positive and black negative. Whole unit weighs about 1.5 g.

The drawing in Visual Details carries every dimension needed to design a mount. There are no threaded mounting holes on this body — it is held by a clamp or a press-fit bore, so plan the housing around the Ø6 mm diameter.

Applications

  • Micro camera gimbals and pan-tilt heads
  • Precision instruments and dial drives
  • Miniature smart appliances and dispensers
  • Small robotics joints and model mechanisms

What's Included

FAQ

What is the difference between the 1.5V and 3V options?

The gearbox is the same; the winding differs. At any ratio the 3V version turns about twice as fast, for example 6400 rpm against 3200 rpm at 1:5.

Why do the slower ratios have a longer body?

Each reduction stage adds a gear stage to the gearbox. 1:5 uses one stage and adds 5.8 mm; 1:699 uses four stages and adds 11.75 mm.

Is this really coreless?

Yes. The rotor winding has no iron core, which is why the motor accelerates quickly and runs without cogging at low speed.

Can I reverse the rotation?

Yes. Swap the red and black leads, or reverse the supply polarity.

Which ratio should I choose?

Start from the output speed your mechanism needs and read it off the variant name; then check the rated torque for that ratio in the tables before committing.
