Overview
WitMotion JY-DATA-LOG is a serial data recorder module designed for high-speed serial data storage to an SD card. It works like a “black box”: data is saved in TXT format on the SD card, and parameters can be configured via a generated config.txt file. Two styles are available: JY-DATA-LOG (standard) and JY-DATA-LOG-BLE (Bluetooth/BLE version).
Key Features
- Serial data storage to SD card (high-speed SD card logger)
- 16KB large buffer/cache to help avoid data loss (stated as “16KB large buffer area, avoid data loss”)
- Recorded files saved in .TXT format on the SD card
- On first power-up with an SD card inserted, the module generates config.txt (includes baud rate parameters, etc.); recorder baud rate should match the IMU’s baud rate
- Configuration and writing via config.txt (baud, pack/file numbering, file size limit)
- Shield protection and multiple indicator light modes (easy to analyze)
- Bluetooth SD Recorder (JY-DATA-LOG-BLE): remote modification by Bluetooth; Bluetooth can view real-time data recording and send transparent data; can set file size limit and data time stamp
- PC software is provided for users to develop and test

Configuration Notes (config.txt)
- Example config line shown: baud=2,pack=1,FileSizeLimit:0
- Baud list shown: 0:2400, 1:4800, 2:9600, 3:19200, 4:38400, 5:57600, 6:115200, 7:230400, 8:460800
- Explanation shown (JY-DATA-LOG-BLE): baud=2 means baud rate is 9600
- Explanation shown: pack=00006 means the next recorded file name is LOG00006.TXT (serial number automatically increments without manual modification)
- Explanation shown: FileSizeLimit=0 means file size is not limited; if FileSizeLimit=1024, maximum is 1K data
Applications
- TTL serial data logging to SD card for sensors and controllers (e.g., IMU serial data recording)
- Debugging and test data capture where a compact SD card data logger module is needed

Choose the standard JY-DATA-LOG for wired TTL logging, or the JY-DATA-LOG-BLE version for added Bluetooth/BLE control.

Recorded serial data is stored to the SD card as .TXT files, with settings generated in a config.txt file on first power-up.

Quick setup is handled by editing config.txt for baud rate, auto-incrementing log file numbers, and optional file size limits.

Bluetooth/BLE lets you adjust logging parameters remotely and monitor recording status while data writes to the SD card.

Electrical and performance specs include a 3.3–5V supply, TTL serial interface, and version-specific baud and throughput ratings.

Compact footprints make integration easy: the standard and BLE versions differ in length and thickness while keeping 2.54 mm pad pitch.

Clear pin definitions simplify wiring: power, UART TX/RX, enable control, and a cache-alarm indicator output are all broken out.
