Overview
This USB3.0 HUB expansion board is designed to expand one USB connection into four USB 3.0 ports for makers, robotics developers, and embedded projects. It is applicable to ROS robot/car platforms and host boards such as Raspberry Pi 5/4B, RDK series, and Jetson series boards, and it can also be used with PCs and industrial computers. The board uses a VL817 HUB chip and supports plug-and-play operation with common operating systems.
Key Features
- 1 to 4 USB expansion: one USB input interface to 4 USB 3.0 output interfaces.
- High-speed transmission (theoretical): USB3.0: 5Gbps (500Mb/s); USB2.0: 480Mbps (60MB/s). USB3.0 interface is compatible with USB2.0/USB1.1 devices.
- Multiple power input options: supports USB-A interface power supply, plus external power via Micro USB (5V), DC5.5*2.5 (6V~24V), or XH2.54 (6V~24V).
- Wide-voltage external power supply support: 9~24V external voltage input is supported (via DC interface / XH2.54 socket as stated).
- High current capability (when external power supply conditions are met): total output current of four USB channels can reach 5A; a single USB channel can reach 1.5A.
- Independent power switch: supports power cycling without unplugging USB devices.
- Protection circuits: over-current protection, short-circuit protection, and anti-reverse connection protection; includes voltage stabilization and an isolation circuit to help prevent reverse power supply from the USB port.
- Status indication: 4-channel USB device status indicators (USB1/USB2/USB3/USB4) plus a power indicator.
- Stacked installation support: Raspberry Pi 5/4B/3B+/3B and RDK X3 board.
- System compatibility (plug and play): Win7/8/10, Linux, Ubuntu, MacOS.

Details

Built for makers and robotics developers who need more USB ports on compact ROS platforms.

Expand one USB connection into four USB 3.0 ports for Raspberry Pi, Jetson, RDK boards, and PCs.

Plug-and-play operation combines fast data transmission with flexible external power options when peripherals need more current.

Designed to solve limited USB interfaces and power constraints on embedded host boards while staying compatible with common OSs.

USB 3.0 provides up to 5Gbps theoretical bandwidth and remains compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 devices.

A single upstream connection can support multiple peripherals such as cameras, lidar, keyboards, and storage.

External power inputs help keep high-power USB devices stable without relying only on the host board’s USB power.

Works across SBCs, robotics controllers, PCs, and industrial computers for flexible integration.

Stacked mounting supports tidy builds on Raspberry Pi and compatible boards.

Driver-free use on Windows, Linux/Ubuntu, and macOS simplifies deployment in prototyping and production.

An independent power switch and onboard protection help manage peripherals without constant re-plugging.

Per-port indicator LEDs provide quick status checks for connected devices.

Suitable for everyday peripherals in PC workstations and sensor-heavy robot builds alike.

Clear board layout includes USB-A upstream, four downstream ports, status LEDs, and multiple power-in connectors.

Mechanical dimensions and key parameters help with enclosure planning and system integration.

Everything needed for basic mounting and wiring is included, including the USB 3.0 cable and hardware.

Compact board layout keeps four USB 3.0 ports accessible while fitting neatly into embedded builds.
