Overview
YDLIDAR TW3 is a consumer-grade 2D Underwater LiDAR developed by EAI Tech. Using the pulsed Time-of-Flight (ToF) ranging principle and a green laser, it is designed for underwater environments and features IP68 protection. TW3 is built to handle surface reflections, water refraction, and turbid water conditions for stable underwater scanning, helping devices such as pool cleaning robots and underwater inspection equipment add navigation, obstacle avoidance, and environmental mapping capability.
Key Features
- IP68 waterproof with double-layer sealed waterproof structure; suitable for water depth up to 5 m
- Anti-ambient light interference with proprietary 100Klux intense light suppression technology for strong-light and turbid-water scenarios
- Measurement range: 0.05–5 m; maximum ranging radius stated as 5 m
- 360° omnidirectional scanning; ranging core rotates clockwise to obtain contour maps
- Sampling frequency: 4000 times/s for mapping and navigation data streams
- Adjustable scanning frequency: 6 Hz to 12 Hz (software adjustable); default frequency 6 Hz

Details

A consumer-grade 2D underwater LiDAR built for reliable ranging and navigation in submerged environments.

Designed to support underwater scanning, mapping, and obstacle avoidance for robots and inspection platforms.

Proprietary ambient-light suppression helps maintain consistent data quality in strong light and murky water.

Composite materials and sealed construction help resist salt, chlorine, and oxidation in pool environments.

IP68 waterproofing with a double-layer sealed structure supports operation at water depths up to 5 m.

Pulsed ToF ranging measures distance by timing the laser pulse round trip for dependable obstacle detection.

A 0.05–5 m measurement range helps cover typical underwater navigation and mapping scenarios.

Scanning speed can be software-adjusted from 6 Hz to 12 Hz to balance coverage and update rate.

High sampling frequency supports smoother contour capture for mapping and navigation data streams.

360° scanning helps detect obstacles around the platform and supports contour-based environment mapping.

ROS1/ROS2 support with SDKs simplifies integration into robotic navigation and mapping stacks.

Connect via USB for quick bring-up during development and testing, with a Windows client available.

Low-power emission and modulated pulse operation are presented as meeting Class 1 laser safety standards.

YDLIDAR TW3 underwater LiDAR parameters include 4000Hz sampling, 0–360° scanning, UART (230400 bps), IP68 sealing, and a 520nm green laser.

The YDLIDAR TW3 package includes the underwater LiDAR sensor, a serial port adapter, a 1 m Type-C data cable, and a 1 m connecting wire.

The YDLIDAR TW3 underwater LiDAR sensor features a flange-mount cylindrical body and an attached cable with a circular connector for integration.
