Difference between digital (digital) steering gear and analog steering gear
Digital servo and analog servo are identical in basic mechanical structure, mainly composed of motor, reduction gear and control circuit. The biggest difference between digital servo and analog servo is reflected in the control circuit. The control circuit of digital servo is more microprocessor and crystal oscillator than that of analog servo. Don't underestimate this change, it has a decisive impact on improving the performance of the steering gear.
Digital steering gear is different from analog steering gear in the following two points:
The method of processing the input signal of the receiver;
The way to control the initial current of the steering gear motor reduces the non reaction area (the control area that does not respond to small amount of signals), increases the resolution and generates greater fixed force.
When the simulated steering gear is unloaded, no power is transmitted to the steering gear motor. When there is a signal input to move the steering gear, or when the rocker arm of the steering gear receives an external force, the steering gear will react and transmit power (voltage) to the steering gear motor. This power is actually transmitted 50 times per second, modulated into the maximum voltage of the on / off pulse, and generates small segments of power. When the width of each pulse is increased, for example, the efficiency of the electronic transmission will appear until the maximum power / voltage is transmitted to the motor, and the motor rotates to point the steering gear rocker arm to a new position. Then, when the potentiometer of the steering gear tells the electronic part that it has reached the specified position, the power pulse will reduce the pulse width and slow down the motor. Until there is no power input, the motor stops completely.
The "disadvantage" of simulating the steering gear is that assuming a short power pulse followed by a long pause, it can not apply much excitation to the motor to make it rotate. This means that if there is a small control action, the steering gear will send a small initial pulse to the motor, which is very inefficient. This is also why there is a "no reaction zone" in the simulated steering gear. For example, the steering gear is very slow to respond to the small movements of the transmitter, or there is no response at all.
Compared with the traditional analog steering gear, the digital steering gear has two advantages:
Because of the microprocessor, the digital steering gear can process the input signal according to the set parameters before sending the power pulse to the steering gear motor. This means that the width of the power pulse, that is, the power of the excitation motor, can be adjusted according to the program calculation of the microprocessor to adapt to different functional requirements and optimize the performance of the steering gear.
The digital servo sends power pulses to the motor at a much higher frequency. That is, compared with the traditional 50 pulses / second, it is now 300 pulses / second. Although the width of each power pulse is reduced due to the high frequency, the motor receives more excitation signals at the same time and rotates faster. This also means that not only the servo motor responds to the signal of the transmitter at a higher frequency, but also the "no response zone" becomes smaller; The reaction becomes faster; Faster and softer acceleration and deceleration; Digital steering gear provides higher accuracy and better fixed force.
